Looking for a protein based dessert or snack, these cinnamon swirls are the perfect choice especially for the autumn period.
Making the dough:
- 150g all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tbsp cinnamon
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
- 227g Greek yogurt (vanilla)
- 28g butter
- 1 tbsp orange zest
Cinnamon Coating
- 2 tbsp butter
- ½ tbsp cinnamon
Orange Glaze
- 36g Powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp fresh orange juice
How to prep:
- Preheat oven to 180c
- Whisk all dry dough mix in a bowl before combining butter, yogurt and zest.
- And pulse the combined mixture until you achieve a dough consistency.
- Spray a tray of parchment paper with non stick oil and roll the dough out into a large square (ideally 11”x11”)
- For the filling, melt the extra butter and mix with the cinnamon and spread over the dough evenly.
- Use a knife to cut the dough into 10 strips and roll into shape
- Bake for 20 minutes or until the centre is not doughy
- For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar with the orange juice (more can be added to preference) and frost one the cinnamon rolls have cooled.
