Protein Cinnamon Rolls

Looking for a protein based dessert or snack, these cinnamon swirls are the perfect choice especially for the autumn period.


Making the dough:

  • 150g all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
  • 227g Greek yogurt (vanilla)
  • 28g butter
  • 1 tbsp orange zest


Cinnamon Coating

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ tbsp cinnamon


Orange Glaze

  • 36g Powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp fresh orange juice


How to prep:

  1. Preheat oven to 180c
  2. Whisk all dry dough mix in a bowl before combining butter, yogurt and zest.
  3. And pulse the combined mixture until you achieve a dough consistency.
  4. Spray a tray of parchment paper with non stick oil and roll the dough out into a large square (ideally 11”x11”)
  5. For the filling, melt the extra butter and mix with the cinnamon and spread over the dough evenly.
  6. Use a knife to cut the dough into 10 strips and roll into shape
  7. Bake for 20 minutes or until the centre is not doughy
  8. For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar with the orange juice (more can be added to preference) and frost one the cinnamon rolls have cooled.
